24 December-Year-End Listed Pharma and Biotech Companies Post Quarterly Sales Above KRW 100 Billion
Samsung Biologics Alone Posts Sales Above KRW 1 Trillion...Dong Wha, Hugel, and Seegene Join the Ranks
[NEWSMP] A total of 24 listed pharmaceutical and biotech companies with fiscal years ending in December posted sales of more than KRW 100 billion in the second quarter, based on separate financial statements.
Samsung Biologics topped the list. After posting sales of KRW 1.0142 trillion in the second quarter of last year, the company increased its sales to KRW 1.3209 trillion in the second quarter of this year, overtaking Celltrion to claim the top spot.
Celltrion, which had ranked first with sales of KRW 1.2190 trillion in the second quarter of last year, saw its sales decline to KRW 893.7 billion, slipping to second place.
Following the two companies, Yuhan Corporation surpassed the KRW 600 billion mark with sales of KRW 614.0 billion, while Chong Kun Dang posted sales of KRW 475.4 billion. Hanmi Pharmaceutical and Daewoong Pharmaceutical also saw their sales grow to KRW 407.0 billion and KRW 400.2 billion, respectively, putting both above the KRW 400 billion mark.
GC Biopharma recorded a nearly 20% decline in sales but remained above the KRW 300 billion mark. Boryung increased its sales from the KRW 230 billion range to the KRW 260 billion range, while HK inno.N remained in the KRW 260 billion range. Kwangdong Pharmaceutical, meanwhile, slipped from the KRW 260 billion range to the KRW 240 billion range.
Dongkook Pharmaceutical, JW Pharmaceutical and Dong-A ST all saw their sales rise into the KRW 200 billion range, while PharmaResearch, Celltrion Pharm and Jeil Pharmaceutical also reported sales exceeding KRW 150 billion.
In addition, Ildong Pharmaceutical, Handok, Daewon Pharmaceutical, Kolmar BNH, Huons, Dong Wha Pharmaceutical, Hugel and Seegene each posted sales of more than KRW 100 billion.
Other companies that posted sales exceeding KRW 50 billion included ST Pharm, Ahn-Gook Pharmaceutical, Samjin Pharmaceutical, Korea United Pharm, Myung In Pharm, Kyongbo Pharmaceutical, Whan In Pharm, IL-Yang Pharmaceutical, Yungjin Pharmaceutical, Hana Pharm, Medytox, Shin Poong Pharmaceutical, Dongkoo Bio&Pharma, JW Life Science, Daihan Pharm, Daehan Nupharm, T&L, KyungDong Pharm, Samil Pharmaceutical and Humedix.
