Quarterly exports of the top five pharmaceutical companies reach 171.9 billion won

The combined exports of the top five pharmaceutical companies exceeded 170 billion won in the second quarter.

The proportion of exports to sales has returned to double digits from 8% level in the first quarter but has decreased slightly compared to the same period last year.

According to a recent report, the combined exports of the five companies, Yuhan Corporation, GC Pharma, Chong Kun Dang Pharm., Hanmi Pharmaceutical, and Daewoong Pharmaceutical, rose 4.9% YoY to 171.9 billion won in the second quarter, surpassing 170 billion won once again after the fourth quarter of last year.

However, there were differences between companies. Daewoong Pharmaceutical, which had only 3.8 billion won in exports in the second quarter of last year, soared 157.9% to 9.8 billion won, approaching the 10 billion won mark, and Yuhan Corporation saw a 24.1% increase to 36.6 billion won.

Moreover, exports of GC Pharma increased 14.8% YoY to 81.6 billion won, surpassing 80 billion won. GC Pharma accounted for nearly half of the total exports of the five companies.

On the other hand, Hanmi Pharmaceutical’s exports fell 27.3% YoY to 33.1 billion won and Chong Kun Dang Pharm. lost 22.9% to 10.8 billion won.

The proportion of exports to sales of five companies is going back and forth between single and double digits every quarter.

It dropped by 0.4% YoY to 10.1% in the second quarter, but returned to doubled digits from 8.5%.

In particular, the exports portion of GC Pharma was 21.1%, up 1.3% YoY. The proportion of Yuhan Corporation’s exports also rose 1.3% to 8.4%, and Daewoong Pharmaceutical expanded 1.9% to 3.6% from 1.7%.

However, the proportion of exports to sales of Hanmi Pharmaceutical fell 6.8%p from the same period last year to 11.9%, and Chong Kun Dang Pharm. also shrank by 1.2%p to 3.3%.
