As the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus increased significantly, the number of pharmacies visited by confirmed people in Seoul also rose sharply in January.
The Seoul Pharmaceutical Association (Chairman Dong-ju Han) announced that confirmed people visited 2,779 pharmacies as of 18:00 on January 27th.
Considering that there were 1,698 confirmed cases visited pharmacies as of December 3rd, the number has increased by 1,000 in a month.
The data released by Seoul Pharmaceutical Association does not include the current status of Seocho, Gangnam, and Songpa-gu, which do not disclose the specific routes, so it can be expected that confirmed people visited more than 2,800 pharmacies.
Compared to early December, the largest increase area where the pharmacies visited by confirmed patients was Eunpyeong-gu by 133 pharmacies.
The number of confirmed pharmacists in Seoul increased by 3 from 4 to 7 last month, as the number of pharmacies visited by confirmed people jumped up.
A Pharmacist A in Seoul said, “The number of visitors has declined due to the increase in confirmed cases in January,” and added, “As we follow the government’s quarantine guidelines, information exchange between pharmacists is decreasing.”
Starting in the second quarter, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency included pharmacists who run pharmacies in the priority group to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Regarding this, a pharmacist B in Seoul said, “There has been an acrylic screen distributed by the local pharmaceutical community, but it is true that I still felt uneasy,” and “Since I’m priority group of vaccination, I feel like pharmacists have more safety devices to reduce the risk of infection caused by contact with confirmed patients.”
